Here’s another example from the insightful Shape article, “Online Dating Disasters That’ll Make You Glad You’re Single”. This one is yet another story about how some jerk was ratted out for being a cheating D-Bag… by LinkedIn!! That’s right, even the social media sites for “professionals” can reveal your deepest, darkest secrets. Or, in this case, your obvious marital status.

Not Very Professional
”I’d been dating a guy for about a month, and things were going great. We were seeing each other at least four times a week, he kept mentioning how he’d never felt like this about a woman before, and I was pretty sure he was The One. That is, until I got a message from him asking to be his friend on LinkedIn. I responded, then looked through his connections—one was a woman with the same last name as him. Because I’m curious, I did some digging—I assumed it was his sister. No, based on a Google search, it was his wife. Of course, I immediately called him out—and he insulted me, calling me a stalker!” -Kelly, 31

I guess it’s good that Kelly did some digging. It’s our right in these digital times to “dig”. We have access to information, people, pictures, videos, reviews, and all kinds of other things we didn’t 10 – even 5 – years ago. How long do you think this guy would have been able to lead a happy little cheater’s life before Kelly found out he was married?? So I guess this story is more of an example of how using the internet’s all-knowing resources and connections to “stalk” people we’re dating can save us a lot of time and heartache. Use it wisely!!

Lots of Love,

Emily
